The API Files page is a file browser and editor for the repository Checksum maintains for your API tests. It’s the quickest way to see exactly what the agent produced and to make a small change without leaving the app.
API Files browser with the file tree and an open file

Layout

API Files has two panes:
  • File list (left): the folder tree for your tests repo, scoped to the checksum/ directory. Click into folders to navigate; the breadcrumb shows where you are. Drag the divider to resize the pane.
  • Editor (right): the contents of the selected file, with syntax highlighting for the file type (YAML, Python, JSON, and more).
The repository name and branch Checksum is reading from are shown above the file list, so you always know which repo and branch you’re editing.

Edit a file

  1. Select a file in the list to open it in the editor.
  2. Make your changes; the editor highlights that you have unsaved edits.
  3. Click Save. Checksum commits the change back to your tests repository on the connected branch.
Editing a generated test file in API Files
You can also delete a file from the editor when it’s no longer needed. Deletes are committed to the repo and can’t be undone from the app.
API Files operates only within the checksum/ folder of your repo, so the rest of your repository is never touched from here.
For most workflows you don’t need to edit files by hand; generation, healing, and triage keep your tests current. Use API Files when you want to inspect the exact generated output or make a targeted one-off fix.
