Your tests need credentials and configuration (base URLs, API keys, tokens) to run against your environment. Set these as environment variables and Checksum injects them into every API test run.
Open the environment variables page
There are two ways to get there:
- From API Tests, click Secrets.
- From Settings → Secrets.
Both open the same Environment Variables page.
Add variables
One at a time
Click Add Variable, enter a Name and Value, and save. Use the reveal toggle to check a value, and the row actions to edit or delete it later.
Import from a .env file
Click Add Variable → Import from .env to bring in many variables at once. You can:
- Drop or browse for a
.env file, or
- Paste
KEY=value pairs directly.
Comments (# ...) are ignored. Checksum shows a preview marking each variable as New or Overwrite before you confirm the import.
Environment variables hold secrets like API keys and tokens. Values are masked by default; only reveal them when you need to verify a value.
